  With this proposal we want to show you a selection of artist books created by former students of the Bookbinding Cycle of the Escuela Lonja de Barcelona, a meeting place for students from different promotions, origins and creative routes. The importance of preserving this artistic craft is manifested through the various professional, artistic and educational paths that each of us has followed. • Fragments of Time: Towards a New Geology by Aina Maria Mata

  The project experiments with the technique of etching the degradation of materials. It focuses on the physicality of the eroded material as a symbol of the passage of time. It raises the perception of time as a human experimentation and seeks to establish links between this anthropocentric time and geological time. In the artist's words "In the end, the stones are part of a history much longer than ours and approaching their rhythms allows us, among others, to reflect on the need for a slow look, the perception we have of nature, our limits or the notion of time".

  One second is the shutter speed at which this photographic project was carried out with a Leica camera.

  For many decades, the slowest speed of this camera was, and still is, 1".

  At 1" the shutter sound is sustained...pleasing.

  In photography 1" is revealed to us as a sum of instants. Here projected on anonymous people, who with their abstraction and movement, transport us to the hurried contemporary life.

  1" in photography can be an eternity.

  JORDI CERDÀ Y GEREBÉS (Barcelona 1949)

  Graduated in Fine Arts and designer, his first exhibitions, none in 1968, tend to minimalism and work with geometric elements. At the end of the sixties he began to work in the field of the image and soon entered the more general current of conceptual art, an aspect in which his later works are inscribed, always made from a reflection on art and its representation, which is within the theoretical background of his work.

  In 1987 philosopher Frank White first used the term "Overview Effect". This effect refers to the overwhelming sensation that some astronauts have when they see the Earth from space. From this altitude, our planet is perceived as a fragile and fascinating ball floating in the cosmos. This vision often generates a profound sense of insignificança and a feeling of communion with the universe. It is not only the image of immensity that amazes us, but also the idea of it, the fact of being able to think it.

  Vacuum is an interpretation of the feeling that produces the immensity. A feeling that gives rise to a great inner peace, but at the same time generates a dizzying feeling of emptiness.   Which house for you? is an artistic, social and urbanistic research project that focuses on the analysis of absences in the territory, as traces of old houses or demolished buildings visible to the public space that denote or are witnesses of dissociations between the urban fabric and the social fabric of a territory; these are spaces in limbo, often associated with underlying conflicts on the issue of housing.

  The history of an old demolished house at 43 Art Street, in the Guinardó neighborhood (Barcelona), and the works that are currently underway are the starting point of a project that aims to contrast the urban planning approaches that take place in this particular area of the city with the witnesses of the agents that inhabit or pass through it, so as to make visible the different realities or dynamics that may signify spaces already absent from...
